From July 3 to 13, 2025, the City of Brussels launches “Quai d’Été“: a free, never-before-seen event on the Quai des Péniches. This new event promises activities for all, festive cruises and a unique atmosphere. The aim? To offer a summer alternative to those who stay in Brussels, in a reinvented and convivial urban setting. Here’s why everyone will want to spend their days… and evenings!
Quai d’été, a unique summer village in the heart of Brussels
There’s no artificial beach here, just a lively little port. Colorful containers, recycled furniture, deckchairs and street art frescoes create a warm, trendy atmosphere. The Kanal District is the place to be if you want to enjoy summer in a different way.
Every day, the quay comes alive with children’s workshops, mini-golf, pétanque, trampoline and, of course, chill DJ sets at the end of the day. Weekends are filled with highlights, including kids’ balls, yoga, pop-up surprises and popular dances. There’s something for everyone, whether you come as a family, with friends or on your own.
The program is packed with cultural events from 2pm to 6pm, DJ sets from 5pm to 10pm, a Sunday morning market and musical cruises along the water. It’s impossible to get bored, even if you’re staying in town this summer.
Musical cruises and canal ambience: The Boat experience
The real nugget at Quai d’Été is The Boat. Every day, this iconic barge sets sail for festive cruises on the canal. On board, Brussels collectives put on the show: electro, funk, house or hip-hop, there’s something for everyone.
The deck becomes a floating dancefloor, overlooking street art frescoes and the Brussels skyline. The inside bar guarantees non-stop entertainment, even when the weather’s not cooperating. Cruises (fee payable, booking required) last 2h30 and promise unforgettable aperitifs along the water.
For those who prefer to stay on the quayside, access is free and the atmosphere is just as festive. The site focuses on sustainability: reusable crockery, selective sorting and soft mobility are all part of the program. The event is also inclusive: accessible to all, with particular attention paid to welcoming families and people with reduced mobility.
In short, Quai d’Été promises a unique summer interlude of relaxation, celebration and discovery. Stay in Brussels this summer!
