BXL Food Marathon: a new sporting and gourmet concept
Are you a fan of running, but also of good food? Then you’re sure to be delighted by the arrival of this brand-new concept in Brussels: the BXL Food Marathon. But what exactly is it? It’s a unique running club, and for its first edition, the theme is the galette des rois. The concept of this “Galettathon” is very simple. You sign up for the half-marathon (21 km) or the full marathon (42 km), and every 7 or 8 kilometers, you have to make a stop, for a total of 6 stops. And not just any stops! Because at every stop, you’ll discover delicious galette des rois from the capital’s best bakeries and patisseries. So, you run a little, you eat a little, you run some more… from galette to galette!
Here are the 6 participating bakeries and patisseries and their galettes:
- Fiston: the first stop on the “galettathon” offers a delicious frangipane galette, which took 3rd place in the “Galette de Bruxelles” competition!
- Fine Bakery: here you can enjoy a southern version of the galette, the Couronne des rois, a brioche cake scented with orange blossom and topped with preserved lemons and sugar pearls. Yum!
- Kapa Bakery & Specialty Coffee: this bakery offers an exquisite version of the apple galette.
- Boulangerie Brood: here, you’ll taste the Swiss-style galette !
- Khobz: this stop will please purists, with a traditional frangipane galette, 100% almonds.
- Mains Sourdough Bakery: in addition to the classic almond galette, you can also opt for a pistachio version.
- Nikolas Koulepis Pâtisserie: this last gourmet stop will make you fall in love with its version of the pistachio galette… a real delight.
