It’s official! The “Plaisirs d’Hiver ” festivities, which include the Brussels Christmas Market, return to the capital from November 29, 2024 to January 5, 2025. They will be held on Place De Brouckère, Place Monnaie, Place Grand-Place, Place Sainte-Catherine, Place de la Bourse, Tour Noire and Vismet.
The capital’s Christmas market is a favorite of many Brussels residents. It’s part of the “Plaisirs d’Hiver ” entertainment program, and is set to make a comeback this winter with romantic comedies and festive music. It takes to the streets of the town on November 29! Let’s hear it for liters of mulled wine, cones of French fries galore and crunchy chocolates in foil!
Plaisirs d’Hiver: voted “most beautiful Christmas market in the world
In 2023, no fewer than 4 million visitors flocked to the illuminated stalls of Brussels’ biggest Christmas market. In the previous edition, the capital’s Christmas market welcomed visitors right in the heart of the city. Merchants and shopkeepers provided latecomers with last-minute gifts and other authentic products with a festive flavour. In 2022, the magazines Best Christmas Market and Big 7 Travel even voted it “most beautiful market in Europe and the World”! A real accolade!
What events will Plaisirs d’Hiver host in 2024?
In addition to the (very, very) large 250-stand Christmas market in the heart of the Pentagon, and the customary Christmas tree in the Grand-Place, the festivities will also include, as usual, the famous ice rink! The Christmas market website, which has yet to reveal its full 2024 program, also announces “curling rinks” and “artistic discoveries”! It’s shaping up to be, as it is every year, absolutely wonderful! We’re already feeling the magic of Christmas!
The return of the Brussels by Lights festival?
With around 160 light installations, Brussels by Lights – which normally takes place at the same time as the Christmas Market – knows how to light up the hearts of all Brussels residents. Exact dates have yet to be confirmed (we’re guessing late November)… However, Brussels by Lights is likely to be back this year too. That’s right, to light up the city’s streets and shopping arteries!
