Behind this international recognition lies an exceptional concept: a unique 18-course tasting menu, updated daily based on the day’s freshest ingredients and the chef’s spontaneous creativity. We take a closer look at this landmark global distinction and explore this extraordinary culinary experience.
86th best restaurant in the world: a major achievement for Brussels’ culinary scene
The prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking has just honored Brussels’ culinary scene. In unveiling its extended list of rankings 51 through 100, the organization recognized Restaurant Eliane, led by chef Kobe Desramaults, which made a remarkable debut at 86th place worldwide. Awarded since 2002 by a panel of more than 1,100 independent experts (chefs, journalists, and industry specialists), this internationally recognized ranking confirms the capital’s culinary influence.
This distinction is part of a positive trend for the local culinary scene, which now boasts at least three restaurants represented in this exceptional top 100 list. The Jane, located in Antwerp, ranks 63rd, while Willem Hiele’s restaurant in Oudenburg also maintains its place among the international elite. This initial announcement offers a very promising preview ahead of the official unveiling of the final top 50, to be revealed on November 4 from Lima, Peru.
From ingredient to dish: Eliane’s bespoke gastronomic concept
Opened in December 2024 in the heart of Brussels, the restaurant Eliane offers a unique culinary experience created by Kobe Desramaults. The chef serves a one-of-a-kind 18-course tasting menu, which changes daily based on the availability of exceptional ingredients and his spontaneous inspiration. The cuisine highlights vegetables, fish, and seafood, with meat used only sparingly. Due to this bespoke and exacting approach, guests with allergies are asked to contact the restaurant to confirm the feasibility of their meal.
To reserve a table at this sought-after gem, you’ll need to plan ahead: reservations open every three months, with a waiting list in case the restaurant is fully booked. As for pricing, the tasting menu (excluding drinks) is priced at €285. To accompany the meal, the restaurant offers a wine pairing for €150 as well as a custom non-alcoholic pairing for €120. With its scarce availability and culinary excellence, Eliane is increasingly establishing itself as one of the most coveted restaurants in the capital.
