Since 1946, this remarkable building has been transforming fresh, untreated fruit throughout the seasons, thanks to the passion of meticulous artisans and the expertise passed down within the Thudinien region. To mark this significant anniversary, the estate is opening its doors on August 29 and 30 for two festive days combining exclusive tours, walks, gourmet picnics, and fine dining.
The Biercée Distillery: 80 Years of Walloon Tradition
Founded in 1946, the Distillerie de Biercée stands as one of the oldest distilleries still in operation in Belgium. Its setting is equally remarkable: it is housed in the heart of the Ferme de la Cour in Ragnies, a former outbuilding and court of justice of Lobbes Abbey. This architectural gem of Walloon heritage, spread across the Thudinian high plateau, offers a majestic setting wherethe history of ancient stones meets the nobility of copper stills.
Beyond its exceptional setting, the distillery upholds a rigorous, 100% natural philosophy. Here, there is no place for additives, artificial flavors, or synthetic colors: only fresh, untreated fruit, selected from the finest terroirs, is transformed by the production team. Over four generations, this precious expertise has been passed down by just four Master Distillers. This strong commitment is shared with the “Artisans de Biercée” network—a group of restaurant and café owners who serve as ambassadors, showcasing this jewel of Belgian heritage.
Exceptional products and a festive weekend: a gourmet experience
The Distillerie de Biercée’s reputation rests above all on its iconic elixirs, such as the famous Eau de Villée, Poire N°1, Biercine, and Peket de Houyeu. The distillery also offers a contemporary range of barrel-aged gins and rums. To extend the enjoyment, the site is home to La Grange des Légendes, a brewery-restaurant with vintage charm adorned with period enamel signs, where guests can savor traditional Belgian dishes paired with the estate’s products.
