Let’s be honest: when we heard thatEd Banger was going to set up their turntables on the Gare du Nord esplanade, we initially thought it was a joke. But no! On May 30, Place Noord —that massive 9,000-square-meter concrete slab we usually dash across between train connections—will be transformed into a giant open-air dance floor.
Busy P, Cassius, Louise Chen, Bibi Seck: the Ed Banger crew brings out the heavy artillery
The French label that launched Justice, Mr. Oizo, and the late DJ Mehdi never does things by halves, and they’re determined to prove it to you. From 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., Busy P, Cassius, Louise Chen, and Bibi Seck will take turns at the decks for nine hours of non-stop sets. Vibrant house and funky electro: the kind of lineup that’s sure to delight fans of smooth basslines.
Place Noord, that unlikely spot we didn’t see coming
Sandwiched between office towers and the constant stream of Thalys trains, the esplanade has never really been a favorite. And yet: its brutalist lines, its unobstructed horizon, and that 210-meter concrete slab in the background give it the feel of a set from a Soviet sci-fi film. Add to that a thumping sound system and a few thousand Brussels residents ready to stomp their feet, and you’ve got a truly cinematic setting for an extraordinary night out.
