Lake Nisramont: the Ardennes with a touch of Canada
Nestled in a wooded valley, this artificial lake, created at the confluence of the Eastern and Western Ourthe rivers, offers a striking scene. The site also owes its existence to the Nisramont Dam, a concrete wall built between 1953 and 1958. 116 meters long and 16 meters high, it holds up to 3 million cubic meters of water to supply the region with drinking water and has completely transformed the valley into a protected ecological sanctuary. As you take in the panorama from the overlook at the confluence, you immediately sense the delicate balance between human ambition and the raw power of the Ardennes’ nature, symbolized by this jewel of biodiversity.

Stretching 14 kilometers, the lake trail follows the meandering water through a dense, rolling forest.
