We love the smell of chestnuts and mulled wine in the aisles of Plaisirs d’Hiver! But there’s nothing to stop us from recreating the atmosphere of a Christmas market at home. Today, we’re revealing all the secrets behind Cyril Lignac ‘s spiced mulled wine recipe .
Ingredients
- A bottle of red Bordeaux wine
- 50 centilitres water
- One organic orange
- A knob of fresh ginger
- Ten cloves
- One cinnamon stick
- One vanilla pod
- Four tablespoons sugar
Preparation
Peel the ginger and cut into thirds. Rinse the orange under lukewarm water, cut in half and prick the cloves into the skin (the added bonus is that it perfumes your living room!).
Place the water, 1/2 oranges, ginger, cinnamon and sugar in a saucepan. Heat and add the vanilla seeds and pod.
Add the red wine and simmer for at least 20 minutes, without letting the liquid boil. Strain and serve piping hot.
To be enjoyed without moderation… or almost! Mulled wine is back!
