New Year’ s Eve in Brussels promises to be another busy evening. The emblematic fireworks display will take place on the Heysel plateau, bringing crowds of people and traffic to a standstill. To ease traffic congestion, the Stib will be offering free transport for a few hours, while part of the city center will be closed to traffic.
Free transport from midnight to 5.30 a.m.
To mark the start of the new year, the STIB will be extending its public transport service. The network will be free for all passengers from midnight to 5:30 am. Streetcars, metros and 7 bus lines will run until 2:30 a.m. with increased frequency. In 2023, almost 125,000 people chose the STIB for their New Year’s Eve journeys!
Metros 1, 2, 5 and 6, streetcars 3, 4, 7, 25, 8, 93, 39, 44, 55 and 81 will be reinforced, running until 2:30 a.m., as will buses 45, 49, 54, 56, 65 and 87.
The Noctis network buses will operate between midnight and 5:30 a.m., with a last departure from the city center at 5 a.m.. These timetables will link the night-time network departures with the first morning runs. The N18 line will run every 10 minutes. Lines N04, N05, N06, N08, N09, N10 and N11 will run every 15 minutes. Finally, lines N12, N13 and N16 will run every 20 minutes.
