So much for Étienne Daho and his “Weekend in Rome”, we’re taking you to another Italian city for this travel tip! Yes, a new rail link is arriving this summer to connect the Belgian capital to the heart of Italian fashion and design. More environmentally-friendly and more comfortable than air travel, this overnight mode of travel is winning over more and more people. As proof, Belgian-Dutch operator European Sleeper is preparing to launch a night train linking Brussels to Milan three times a week from June 18, 2026. You’ll be able to fall asleep in Brussels and wake up the next morning in Italy (via a route through Germany and Switzerland), refreshed and ready to explore the city.
With the Brussels-Milan night train, treat yourself to an eco-responsible journey to Italian chic.
No more airport hassles or stressful connections! European Sleeper is back with a vengeance with this new route, embodying the return of slow, eco-responsible travel in Europe. The route will start operating on June 18, 2026, with departures from Brussels on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings. The train will link up with the Amsterdam and Germany sections, before continuing through Switzerland, including Berne and Brig. Passengers can then travel along the magnificent Lake Maggiore before arriving in Milan the following morning.
Make no mistake, this mode of travel is a great alternative for those wishing to reduce their carbon footprint. As for the duration of the journey, it is designed to be optimized. The entire trip should take between 12 and 14 hours door-to-door. Plenty of time to catch up on the sleep you’re missing! What’s more, ticket prices will start at around €80 for a basic berth, making this Italian getaway more affordable. The train will offer different travel options, from seats to sleeper compartments for three or five people.
Get ready, tickets for this sleeper train will go on sale in January or February 2026. It’s the perfect time to start planning your future Milan getaway with peace of mind.
