As we age, our social circle tends to shrink. Between busy schedules, other commitments and telecommuting, it can be difficult to make connections as adults. But not in Europe’s capital: The First Round Brussels comes to the rescue for those who want to widen their circle of friends, and for those who appreciate a little mystery.
In a secret location that will be communicated to you 24 hours in advance, you’ll be invited to dine with five strangers who share your interests, enjoy delicious food, toast (with or without alcohol) and share a few laughs. At the end of the evening, you may even leave with a new friend…
What is The First Round?
It’s hard to make friends in adulthood, but fortunately it doesn’t have to be that way any more. The idea behind these secret dinners is to bring together people who don’t yet know each other, but who share similar interests and principles. At The First Round, you’ll be invited to fill in a questionnaire before you arrive, and your answers will be used to match you with compatible people.
Who can take part in these mysterious dinners with strangers?
Anyone aged 18 and over can take part in this mysterious adventure. Whether you’re new to the city, looking to expand your circle of friends, introverted or feeling isolated, the reasons are endless. This experience will create a relaxed atmosphere around a delicious meal, where the conversation will flow, as will the drinks (if you wish).
What you need to know
The First Round operates in a mysterious way, as the location of the event will only be revealed to you on the eve of the event. When you arrive at the restaurant, you’ll be asked to give a “secret password” known only to your group, to ensure that you’re seated with the right people, sharing the same interests and speaking the same language.
You’ll also find a list of “ice-breakers” and “fun games” so you can freely discuss and participate. Tickets include access to the event, but food and drink must be purchased separately.

It’s never too late to make new connections and, more importantly,“a friend may be hiding behind a stranger’s face“. So don’t hesitate to try out The First Round in Brussels and find out what the evening has in store for you!
