The Autoworld Museum, located in the heart ofthe soon-to-be-transformedCinquantenaire Park, is one of the most underrated museums. Behind the monumental façade (a whim of Leopold II— featuring a triumphal arch, colonnades, and a glass-and-steel hall designed for the 1888 World’s Fair ) lies theNational Automobile Museum of Belgium, with a collection of over 300 vehicles spanning a century and a half of automotive history. Among the gems on display are a 1955 Lancia D50on loan from the National Automobile Museum in Turin, as well asAston Martin’s iconic DB models, including the unmissable James Bond Aston Martin DB5 .

A collection born of passion
It all began withGhislain Mahy(1907–1999), a passionate mechanic who restored dozens of cars himself throughout his life. Together with his sons Hans and Ivan, he built one of the world’s largest private collections—nearly1,000 vehicles—200 of which joined Autoworld when it opened in1986. Among them are many Belgian brands now forgotten by the general public: Minerva, Germain, FN, Imperia, Vivinus…names that evoke a time when Belgium was one of the world’s leading automotive powers.

Aston Martin, Lancia, escape game: the 2025–2026 calendar is worth a visit
The museum isn’t resting on its laurels.Through April 19, the exhibition“Lancia 120 Years – Innovation Through Italian Design”celebrates 12 iconic models from the Italian brand, including the extremely rare D50 race car. StartingApril 24, make way forAston Martin – Elegance in Motion, a retrospective on one of the most coveted brands in British automotive history. And the monthlyCars & Coffeeevents bring collectors together in the Cinquantenaire courtyard for a morning of car enthusiasts. A rather impressive gathering that will appeal to lovers of beautiful bodywork as much as it will to those with a nostalgic streak.

To top it all off, you can play an escape game among legendary cars! It’s probably the museum’s most unexpected activity and one of the most original in Brussels right now. The scenario sets the stage right away: cutting-edge technology has been stolen. It’s up to you to find the clues hidden among the car bodies, identify the suspect vehicle, and save the day before time runs out. Searching for clues at the foot of an Aston Martin or a century-old Belgian Minerva is quite legendary! The escape game is designed for teams of up to 6 people and can be booked directly at the museum ticket office, in addition to the admission ticket.
