The festive season is approaching, but you haven’t yet made plans to go skiing? No problem, if you can’t go to the mountains, the mountains will come to you! Le Poechenellekelder, an authentic downtown estaminet, has just set up its ephemeral gourmet winter chalet. You’ll be able to enjoy the delicious aromas of mulled wine, hot chocolate and other sweet treats in this place, which is instantly recognizable thanks to its facade of colorful bicycles… Bruxelles Secrète tells you more about this atypical winter venue, which you must try out as a matter of urgency.
The Poechenellekelder winter chalet : your cold-weather HQ
As we count down the days to Christmas, we’re desperate to find the best activities to keep us waiting. Of course, there’s the inevitable Plaisirs d’Hiver stalls in the town center, and the ice rink, where young and old alike can have a great time sliding down the ice… But that’s not all. Brussels is home to a number of little nuggets that smell just like the North Pole.
Among them, the traditional winter chalet of the Poechenellekelder, which returns to warm our hearts as soon as the cold season sets in. This typical Brussels estaminet, located rue du Chêne 5, has been in existence since 1991. And 2024 follows in the tradition of previous editions. Since November 9, 2024, the chalet has been open from Thursday to Sunday, serving products reminiscent of the typical Christmas markets: mulled wine, hot chocolate, beer, genepi… you might even find a tartiflette! It’s your turn for a festive, après-ski evening at the Chalet du Poech! A word of advice: don’t forget your hat.
