Over 20 Years of Commitment: ArtContest’s Unique Philosophy
Founded in 2005, ArtContest has established itself as the premier annual competition for artists under 35 living in Belgium. Far from being a mere one-off competition, the nonprofit’s philosophy is rooted in providing structured and long-term support. The goal is to offer young talents exhibitions, residencies, and professional opportunities to help them develop their practice and nurture their artistic reflection within contemporary society. For this 22nd edition, the jury brings together leading figures from the cultural scene, notably marking the arrival of Barbara Cuglietta, director of the Jewish Museum of Belgium.

This year, the competition is strengthening its synergies and expanding its projects into new spaces. As part of its partnership with the Botanique, the exhibition is moving tothe Atoma Art Center. Committed to fostering cross-border exchanges, ArtContest is also continuing its partnership with the Prix Carré sur Seine and the Wallonia-Brussels Center in Paris: after hosting Belgian artists in France this spring, three Parisian talents will be invited to present their work in Brussels.
Ten artists, three guests, and four awards: the flagship exhibition of the fall
From October 7 to November 22, the group exhibition will showcase the visual works of the ten artists selected by the jury: Badi Rezzak, Eva Maria Bouillon, Felix De Clercq, Kayin Luys, Lennert Lefever, Louiz Castiella, Camille Amandine Marino, Sem Roels, Sebastian Vielma Fleischhacker, and Noé Znidarsic. Spanning a variety of disciplines—from painting and installations to video and performance—their works reflect the great vitality of young contemporary art.

As the true highlight of the event, the names of the four winners of this 22nd edition will be officially announced at the opening reception. In addition to the recognition granted by the jury, these awards will offer the winners major opportunities for their future careers, including solo exhibitions, artist residencies, and financial support. The public, meanwhile, will have a month and a half to explore the spaces atAtoma Art Center and take in this inspiring showcase.
