For three days, the capital’s architectural gem will be transformed into a massive open-air beer garden to celebrate Belgian brewing expertise beneath the gilded facades of the historic center. A journey through tradition, national pride, and camaraderie that traces the living history of both major breweries and local microbreweries. Every year, the first weekend in September transforms one of the world’s most beautiful architectural settings into a temple of conviviality. Held on the Grand-Place, an exceptional site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Belgian Beer Weekend celebrates a rich local brewing culture, recognized as part of humanity’s intangible cultural heritage. For three days, more than 50 breweries from across the country gather in the heart of the capital to transform the square into a massive Belgian beer bar. From Trappist monks with their time-honored recipes to modern microbreweries reinventing classic styles, the event showcases the full diversity of our region. Easily accessible, this popular gathering attracts both connoisseurs and curious visitors eager to rediscover timeless classics.
The Belgian Beer Weekend: the vibrant program for the 2026 edition
Throughout the weekend, the Grand-Place comes alive with concerts and an electrifying atmosphere. The festivities kick off on Friday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m., followed by a full day of events on Saturday, September 5, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The highlight of the weekend takes place on Sunday, September 6, at 12:15 p.m. with the spectacular parade of the brewers’ guilds—a traditional and colorful procession you won’t want to miss—which will kick off a final day of festivities lasting until 8:00 p. m.
On the practical side,admission to the site is completely free. To sample the roughly 500 beers offered at the booths, the payment system uses a prepaid card and tokens priced at €2 each. And to extend the adventure, the nearby Belgian Beer World museum offers exclusive tastings and panoramic views of Brussels. In short, it’s the perfect weekend to enjoy a great Belgian beer in a setting unlike any other in the world!
