In the heart of Brussels, a legendary venue is beginning a new chapter in its history. Located on the Grand-Place in the Baroque building of the Maison du Roi de Bavière—which had housed the Hard Rock Café since 2012—the brand-new Brasserie Auguste has just opened its doors. Led by Emmanuel and Daniel Ulaj, this gastronomic hotspot revives the great Franco-Belgian brewing tradition amid a magnificent setting, enhanced by a monumental work of art by Charles Kaisin. Blending preserved heritage with contemporary creativity, the restaurant offers an exceptional culinary journey where Brussels’ culinary expertise meets the freshest seafood, premium meats, and authentic local delicacies.
From the Middle Ages to the Grand-Place: the rebirth of a legendary venue
Occupied since the Middle Ages, this exceptional location was a hub oftrade, craftsmanship, andcultural exchange where the leading figures of European commerce gathered. After the devastating bombing of Brussels in 1695, the building was rebuilt in 1699 in an elegant Baroque style and renamed the House of the King of Bavaria. Until recently, this legendary address was home to the Hard Rock Café. But Emmanuel and Daniel Ulaj, already known for their local culinary successes, decided to create a truly unique experience where architectural heritage engages with modernity.

At the heart of this renaissance stands the largest installation ever created by Belgian designer and architect Charles Kaisin. Suspended in the center of the restaurant and visible from every floor, a poetic cascade of 5,000 origami pieces resonates directly with the ancient stone and the energy of the space. Brasserie Auguste was created to stand the test of time, conceived as a warm and elegant haven for both Brussels residents and travelers from around the world. In this magnificent setting, every table becomes a stage, and every gathering feels like a true celebration.
Seaside flavors and Belgian terroir: the gems of Brasserie Auguste
Auguste’s menu celebrates the richness of Franco-Belgian cuisine through carefully selected fresh ingredients and timeless specialties. Lovers of seafood will discover oysters at their peak of freshness, served with an original passion fruit vinaigrette. The lobsters, meanwhile, are prepared with artisanal precision by the chef, while the prestigious Belgian royal caviar is served with blinis and tangy crème fraîche. On the land side, top-quality meats delight the palate, such as beef tenderloin à la Rossini or the must-try Flemish-style carbonnades.

Behind every plate is a passionate team driven by “Brussels savoir-faire.” To leave a lasting mark on the city’s memory and welcome food lovers from around the world, the restaurant is open seven days a week with non-stop kitchen service from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. In the kitchen, the chef infuses each creation withauthenticity andelegance, right down to the delicious, crispy traditional Brussels waffle. At Brasserie Auguste, fine dining is experienced every day as a shared celebration, where the excellence of precise techniques blends with a deep joie de vivre.
