Don’t be jealous: there are waffles from Brussels as well as from Liège ! The former, rectangular and sweet on top, is airier than its Liège cousin, round and sweet on the inside. Don’t be in any doubt: both are excellent, which is why we’ve put together a roundup of the best places to try them in Brussels.
Maison Dandoy: authenticity
Do we really need to introduce Brussels’ oldest cookie factory? Famous for its speculoos, the Belgian firm has also forged a solid reputation for its delicious waffles. In its tearooms, you can discover tasty waffles from Brussels and Liège. We’re already salivating!

Le Funambule: variety
If you’ve been to rue de l’Étuve, you won’t have missed the window display at Le Funambule, with its many waffles full of flavor and color! Choose your topping, there’s so much to choose from: caramel, speculoos, chocolate, orange, banana, rum raisin… you name it! What a treat for the taste buds! But we’d better warn you: you’ll be asked to pay an extra €2 if you eat your waffle on the spot.

Aux Gaufres de Bruxelles: quantity
We love the delicious waffles at this charming tearoom tucked away on rue du Marché aux Herbes. Offering waffles from Brussels and Liège since 1970 (yes, their reputation is well established!), we were especially attracted by their incredible proportions: they seemed to us most copious! Perfect when you’re feeling peckish.

Woodpecker: the savory version
Is the waffle only sweet? You’ve got it all wrong, and the Woodpecker 47 café-restaurant located between the Grand-Place and De Brouckère proves it! With their savory accompaniments (eggs, chorizo, goat’s cheese…), these delicious waffles are full of new flavors! And for vegetarians, there’s a spinach-mushroom version!
