Brussels Design Week: The Transformation of an Iconic Cultural Event
Launched twenty years ago as Brussels Design September, the festival has established itself as one of the pillars of the capital’s cultural and artistic scene. Born out of a desire to highlight creativity in all its forms, the event has grown in step with a city brimming with creative energy. Over the years, this platform for exchange has brought together hundreds of Belgian and international designers with enthusiasts, professionals, and the curious, helping to establish Brussels design as a force to be reckoned with.
Supported by the Brussels-Capital Region and the City of Brussels, the festival plays a driving role in the city’s economic, tourist, and cultural appeal. By placing creative evolution at the heart of the urban landscape, it invites everyone to experience design in their daily lives. From traditional crafts such as ceramics and tapestry to upcycling, this event will celebrate its 20th edition under its new identity, Brussels Design Week, affirming Brussels more than ever as an essential European hub for innovation.
Exhibitions, workshops, and an urban tour: the program for the 2026 edition
From September 24 to October 4, 2026, Brussels Design Week will take over galleries, studios, cultural institutions, and heritage sites throughout the region. Visitors will be able to meet creators during the “Inside the Ateliers” weekend, explore the award-winning collaborations featured at Commerce Design Brussels, and participate in Talks dedicated to the sustainability challenges of tomorrow.
