Perched on the heights of Stoumont, Froidcour Castle looks as if it has stepped straight out of a medieval novel…Its towers and imposing appearance do indeed evoke a fortress of yesteryear, but its history is more recent than one might imagine. Built between 1912 and 1919, it replaced a noble residence that for centuries was home to the de Lynden family, the Barons of Froidcour. Listed as a Wallonia heritage site, the estate now spans 50 hectares of natural landscape and majestically overlooks the Amblève Valley, offering a magnificent setting where echoes of the past can still be sensed.
A night perched in the “falcon’s nest”
One of the most astonishing experiences Froidcour has to offer is hidden at the top of a spiral staircase with 82 steps. The stairs lead to an unusual room, situated at the very top of the keep! Nicknamed the “falcon’s nest,” it welcomes two guests into a romantic retreat, with a breathtaking view of the valley.
