Formerly known as Château Devèze and then Château Maillard, the building was constructed in the heart of the Bois du Goulot, in the municipality of Leval-Chaudeville. It was Albert Devèze who decided to build this distinctive residence overlooking an impressive south-facing slope. On October 28, 1929, his own daughter laid the cornerstone, sealing the fate of a building withrefined modernist architecture. The estate quickly became a gathering place for Belgium’s political elite, notably Charles de Broqueville, former Belgian Prime Minister.
