Attention collectors and comic book enthusiasts: this weekend, the Ardent City becomes the capital of the 9th art. The Palais des Congrès in Liège is hosting a must-see two-day event, announced by BD Enchères. On Saturday, February 21, there will be a sale dedicated to the world of the famous Belgian comic book author, Hergé. Original comic strips, illustrations, old albums, and other items will be auctioned off on that day and also on Sunday, February 22, which will be dedicated to other leading artists from the country. This is already a cult event for all lovers of the “Ligne Claire” style, just an hour from Brussels.
From the world of Hergé to the masters of Belgian comics: an exceptional catalog
At the heart of this event is the genius of Belgian comics. The leader is, of course, the Brussels artist Hergé, the father of the “Clear Line” style, whose works continue to fascinate young and old alike with their timelessness and style. From the iconic Adventures of Tintin to the exploits of Jo, Zette, and Jocko, the cartoonist’s universe is present in all its forms, from unique illustrations to the rarest collectibles.

But beyond the pillars of comic books, the event celebrates a wide selection of talents who have shaped the identity of the 9th art. It includes the legacy of the guardians of drawing such as Jijé, Mitacq, and the humor of Paul Deliège. But also the travels of Derib and the virtuosity of Walthéry, Gazzotti, and Bédu. Fans of more historical stories can also admire the drawings of Milo Manara and Jacques Tardi. This is a rare opportunity to see the original works of these masters, offering a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of the creation of these treasures of artistic heritage.
