The Marché de la Terre is coming to Brussels in June, and promises much more than just a shopping basket. It’s an ode to taste, to the planet, and to the people who grow it. With its festive atmosphere, incredible products and delightful workshops, Bruxelles Secrète takes you on a tour!
A market with meaning (and taste)
Did you think that “eating local” rhymed with two twisted carrots and dry bread? The Marché de la Terre will make you swallow that cliché. Here, every stand is a declaration of love to nature and good eating. Sparkling ciders, Belgian misos, living cheeses, sourdough breads, artisan sauces… Everything is carefully sourced and presented by people who know what they’re talking about (and, above all, who love it). No greenwashing, just the real thing.
Workshops to get your hands (and conscience) dirty
Ferment your vegetables, roll your pasta, or discover how a tomato can hide an agro-industrial empire: welcome to the workshop/lecture part of the market. Activities are designed for young and old, the curious and the passionate, and flirt with the playful and the political. What if, for example, we told you that your homemade pesto could be an act of resistance? Expect revelations!
A meal to tie everything together, a table to say it all
When the stalls empty, the party goes on: at 6.30pm, we all sit down together for a closing dinner 100% inspired by market produce. Four plates to share, like a best-of of Belgian terroir remixed in a slow version. It’s good, it’s beautiful, it’s without fuss. And it ends as it began: in exchange, encounter and the pleasure of eating differently.
