Goya as you’ve never seen him before: an exhibition of light and shadow at Bozar
This exhibition, entitled “Luz y sombra. Goya and Spanish Realism”, offers an insight into the rich oeuvre of Francisco de Goya (1746-1828), a key artist in Spain’s cultural heritage.
The tour highlights his monumental portraits of high society, his traditional festive scenes and his darkest, most poignant works. Indeed, the artist is also known for denouncing the injustices, abuses and horrors of his time. But that’s not all. This exhibition is distinguished by the confrontation of works by Goya with those of his contemporaries, as well as with modern and contemporary artists. Proof that the enduring legacy of the Spanish painter still fascinates and inspires today.

You will be invited to explore a rare selection of paintings, prints and objects from international collections. The approach is both historical and contemporary, shedding light on Goya’s impact on the Spanish and European collective imagination.
A not-to-be-missed cultural experience in Brussels
This exhibition is part of a vast multi-disciplinary program proposed by EUROPALIA ESPAÑA, which celebrates Spanish culture in a different way, over several months and venues across Belgium. At Bozar, visitors can fully immerse themselves in this creative universe, right in the heart of Brussels.
