Created in 1959 and completely redesigned in 2003, the International Rose Garden covers about one hectare in the heart ofa park that is over 175 years old. But what makes it truly unique is its trial garden. Each year, between 100 and 150 new varieties created by European rose breeders are planted there. They are then observed for two years before being evaluated by an international jury. Disease resistance, fragrance, blooming, and decorative value: only the best roses win the experts’ approval.

For visitors, the highlight of the show remains the vast demonstration garden. Here, you’ll discover nearly 200 commercially available varieties, carefully arranged in different areas inspired by European horticultural traditions. Just a few steps away, the historic garden traces the evolution of the rose through the centuries with a collection of particularly photogenic heirloom varieties. Admission is free, making it an excellent budget-friendly outing.

The best time to enjoy the rose garden is from June to mid-September, when the blooms are at their peak. The fragrant paths, vibrant colors, and peaceful setting of the castle come together to create an almost surreal scene.
