Looking for a bucolic trip the whole family can enjoy, without breaking the bank or moving far from Brussels? We’ve got just what you’re looking for: the Petit Train à Vapeur de Forest, which runs from late April to early October. It’s the perfect activity for young and old alike!
To try out this famous little steam train, you’ll have to go to the Parc du Bempt in Forest! From Saturday, April 29, 2025 (and until October 5, 2025), seasoned railway enthusiasts will be running electric and steam trains (on a 1/8th scale, though – don’t expect the Orient Express) on a 2200-meter circuit, no less!
Le Petit Train à Vapeur de Forest: heading for the Parc du Bempt
Every Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 6pm, you can head straight to the Parc du Bempt (Chaussée de Neerstalle 323b, 1190 Brussels) to discover this little steam train. Reservations are not required; you can go directly to the site and pay €3.50 per person (free for children under 4). Payment is by Bancontact or cash only. So plan ahead!
What’s in it for you? You can enjoy the “grand tour” circuit, which lasts around 12 minutes.
Please note: in the event of bad weather, the Petit Train à Vapeur de Forest asbl reserves the right to cancel the train. Other events for railway enthusiasts take place throughout the opening season, such as the Fête de la Vapeur (May 20 and 21, 2023, 2-6pm). So don your conductor’s cap and whistle, and step out of your daily routine for this delightful activity!
