Brussels’ Old Boy restaurant, already renowned for its modern Asian cuisine, is undergoing a temporary metamorphosis in Flagey. While its original address is being renewed, the team takes over the retro bistro Chez Marie for a daring pop-up: a unique encounter between Belgian brasserie and exotic Thai touches. Read on to find out all about Old Boy Brasserie!
A temporary but essential address
Since November 2024, Old Boy Brasserie has been attracting the curious and gourmets alike with its ephemeral concept. Nestled a stone’s throw from Place Flagey, in the cosy, vintage atmosphere of Chez Marie, the restaurant revisits great Belgian classics with a Thai twist. Here, every dish is a culinary adventure, blending tradition and exoticism.
A menu of land and sea
The menu plays with contrasts: waterzoï revisited in a creamy tom yum broth, mussels flavored with sesame and chili, or Korean beef tartare with gochujang and doyenne pears. In the evening, let yourself be tempted by a five-course tasting menu, designed for sharing. A perfect balance between conviviality and gastronomic audacity.
Old Boy Brasserie is much more than just a meal: it’s an immersion. Flavors are enhanced by a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. For example, a tangerine and turmeric mocktail, or craft beers. For dessert, Thai tea crème brûlée rounds off the journey on a sweet, elegant note.
This pop-up, open until March 2025, offers a new facet of this not-to-be-missed restaurant, as we await the long-awaited reopening of its motherhouse. One thing’s for sure: Old Boy Brasserie is a gastronomic stopover not to be missed this winter.
