La Taverne de Zhao comes to Brussels from Paris with a well-established reputation. Two-meter Biang Biang noodles, recipes inherited from Xi’an, and low prices. This singular address reinvents the Chinese canteen in a raw, lively and intensely gourmet format . Discover it now, chopsticks in hand!
A Parisian success now exported to Brussels
With nine addresses already established in Paris, La Taverne de Zhao arrives in Brussels with the quiet assurance of a concept that has won over customers without ever yielding to expected codes. Nestled a stone’s throw from Place Saint-Boniface, this new address retains the DNA that made it such a success. The space is small, the atmosphere raw and the food straight to the point. No flashy marketing or glossy decor, just steaming bowls, fast service and a culinary experience that puts substance before form.
Xi’an classics, between tradition and modernity
The team draws its inspiration from Xi’an, a thousand-year-old city in central China, to offer authentic, tasty and generous cuisine. The unmissable Biang Biang (handmade noodles, 2 meters wide and undulating) are served with tomato, braised pork or spicy beef, always seasoned with homemade chili oil. Mo, crispy Chinese rolls stuffed with meat, are served alongside refreshing vegetarian starters. For example, the black mushroom salad or the spicy seaweed are a real delight. All this at an affordable price, between €6.8 and €14.8, for a no-compromise formula.
A project driven by a dual culture
Behind this adventure is a young team of Chinese origin who don’t just cook: they pass on. Each dish tells of a heritage, but also of a desire for dialogue between cultures. ZHAO sees itself as a bridge between contemporary China and today’s Europe, supported by a new creative generation. In Brussels as in Paris, our ambition remains the same: to help you discover the little-known richness of Chinese cuisine in all its diversity, with sincerity and high standards.
