Whether hot or iced, we all have a reason to drink good tea! From a simple cocooning break to a real tea tasting, between gourmet pastries and sweet comforting drinks, Bruxelles Secrète has selected for you its five favorite tea rooms in the capital. We look forward to hearing from you!
1. La Maison du Thé: the oldest
With a name like that, you won’t be surprised to see the place given to tea at La Maison du Thé in Brussels. Here, tea varieties are beautifully intermingled from floor to ceiling in gigantic red boxes! Established in 1897, it’s one of the first tea counters in Belgium (and the oldest in Brussels)! In all, you’ll find no fewer than 200 varieties from all over the world. We’re off to a great start with one of the best tea shops on the list!
📍Plattesteen 11, 1000 Brussels. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6.30pm.
➕ From the same house, discover Comptoir Florian, Rue Saint-Boniface 17 in Ixelles.
2. Maison Dandoy: the most gourmand
Not long ago, we were already extolling the virtues of its delicious waffles, famous all over the country. But there’s more to Maison Dandoy than exquisite sweets. In the tearoom area of its boutique on rue Charles Buls, you can indulge in a well-deserved interlude of invigorating teas. Accompanied, of course, by a waffle: the star of the house!
📍Rue Charles Buls 14, 1000 Brussels. Open Monday to Sunday, 11am to 7pm.
3. Roselyne: the most traditional
Roselyne isn’t just a tea room, it’s also a tasting room, where you can enjoy a cup of tea in the traditional way. Owner Lauren Vander Linden discovered her passion for tea during a trip to Asia. She was fascinated by everything from the plantations to the cultivation, production and ceremonies organized around tea. After this voyage of discovery, Lauren trained at the Palais des Thés in Paris. And all this is obvious to Roselyne! The quality of the natural, flavored and grand cru teas is incredible, as are the delicious pastries with which you can accompany them.
📍Rue Darwin 50, 1050 Ixelles. Open Wed – Fri 8am-6pm and Sat – Sun 9am-6pm.
4. Maison Renardy: the most family-friendly
And with good reason: Maison Renardy is a family-run business where everything is homemade! With over a hundred varieties of tea from the four corners of the globe, combined with century-old expertise (Maison Renardy opened in 1912 and moved to chaussée de Wavre in 2007!), it has forged an unrivalled reputation among tea lovers. It’s the perfect place to sip a green tea from Nepal (Guranse Emerald, a delight), an Oolong des Légendes or an Earl Grey Blue Flower on a rainy day to warm up.
📍Chaussée de Wavre 111B, 1050 Ixelles. Open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
5. L’Artisanal: the best roaster
Be warned: seating at L’Artisanal is very limited and the stall isn’t very big, but the experience is totally worth the detour! Their particularly well-stocked menu promises long minutes of hesitation – and temptation – with numerous green, black and white teas, Rooibos, Oolongs, Pu-Erhs and even fruity herbal teas (available for purchase)! Let yourself be tempted by Pu-Erhs, a Chinese tea unique in the world, where the taste reaches new heights after decades of natural aging.
📍Avenue Georges Henri 365, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. Open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
