Imagine: a hot cup of coffee in your hands, while Speculoos settles in royally on the sofa next to you and Frangipane comes over to beg for a few strokes. That’s exactly what awaits you at New Chatouille, the cat café nestled in the Louise district, just a stone’s throw from Rue du Bailli. A comforting, feline interlude in the heart of Brussels—the kind of spot you invariably leave with a smile on your face.
A bar where cuteness reigns supreme
Le New Chatouille operates in partnership with the non-profit organization Ever’y Cat, of which Nathalie, the bar’s manager, is vice president. The association is dedicated to rescuing stray cats from the streets of Brussels. Once rescued, the cats are treated, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being put up for adoption. The most sociable among them make their home at New Chatouille, where a dozen four-legged residents share their daily lives with visitors—between a nap in the sun and a well-deserved cuddle session.
And since the word “bar” is indeed part of “cat café,” know that everything is homemade and prepared on-site. The menu features milkshakes (the house specialty), as well as fresh juices, teas, hot chocolate, coffee, wine, sparkling wine, and beer. For a quick bite: croque-monsieurs, nachos, snacks, crepes, waffles, and French toast. The kind of place where you order a cappuccino and end up staying much longer than planned, lulled by the ambient purring. Before leaving, it’s hard to resist the little goodies Nathalie has unearthed! Bags, pillows, keychains… so many souvenirs to extend the feline interlude once you get home.
