There are places that time only improves. In Itterbeek, in the Pajottenland, the Timmermans Brewery is one of those rare places where brewing history continues to live on every day. And now, this Belgian institution , over three centuries old, invites curious visitors to immerse themselves in its world through a brand-new immersive center entirely dedicated to lambic.
A historic brewery that has stood the test of time

Founded in 1702, Timmermans is considered the oldest lambic brewery still in operation in the world. Located in the heart of Pajottenland (that legendary region where wild yeasts enable spontaneous fermentation), it has been perpetuating for generations a craft that has become emblematic of Belgian heritage. Here , lambic is not just a beer… It is a tradition deeply rooted in the land, its atmosphere, and its history. The site, designated a historic monument, also preserves several impressive industrial treasures. Among them, you can discover an old 19th-century grain crusher. Or a spectacular cooling tank used in the brewing process. Far from being a static museum, the brewery remains fully active and continues to produce its beers in a setting steeped in history.
An immersive experience designed for all curious visitors
After two years of renovation, Timmermans is now turning a new page with the opening of the Lambicus Experience Center. The idea ? To introduce visitors to the sometimes little-known world of lambic in a much more lively and interactive way. The experience was designed for both beer enthusiasts and visitors looking for a unique outing. Specifically, visitors can choose between a guided group tour or a self-guided experience lasting about an hour. Thanks to an interactive app featuring avatars and immersive content, the tour transforms the discovery of lambic into a fun and sensory adventure. All this without compromising the spirit of the place, as the renovation carefully preserved the brewery’s historic character.
A new spot to discover near Brussels
