Many years ago, good restaurants specializing in vegan cuisine weren’t always easy to find. And apart from a few salads… there was often nothing grand on the menu! But this is now a thing of the past. More and more vegan restaurants are springing up all over the world, covering every culinary speciality. It’s also a cuisine that’s no longer reserved for dieters. No, everyone’s into it, if only for a meal!
So it’s safe to say that today, vegan cuisine has finally earned its letters of nobility, and has even reached the upper echelons of gastronomy! Brussels is no exception, and we’ve picked out our favorite vegan restaurants for your next gourmet outing.
Our favorite vegan restaurants in Brussels
Liu Lin
Fans of Asian cuisine will love Liu Lin. Here, the street-food-style cuisine is completely vegan and Taiwanese-inspired. What’s more, the owners’ convictions are clear: a vegan, plant-based lifestyle is the most sustainable way to live – for animals, for our planet and for our health.
Located in the Marolles district of Paris, you can enjoy delicious rice and noodle dishes, each fresher than the last. At Liu Lin, we also source local and organic products, which blend perfectly with the authentic Asian foods used. Deliciously spicy and ethically sourced! What more could you ask for?

Humus & Hortense
If you’re not just looking for a good meal, but also an exceptional gastronomic experience, the Michelin-starred Humus & Hortense is for you. It’s the first vegetarian gourmet restaurant in Belgium to be awarded a Michelin star, and for the second year running too!
The cuisine at Humus & Hortense is “botanical”, varying according to the 24 micro-seasons to offer extremely fresh produce of exceptional quality. Here, each plate is a work of art signed by chef Nicolas Decloedt, whose attention to detail is reminiscent of his former profession as an art photographer. His partner, who is also a certified sommelier and mixologist, is dedicated to offering beverages that go perfectly with the chosen dishes, for a complete gastronomic experience. Formulas are available for lunch and dinner, as well as a tasting menu. A must for your next special evening!

Verdō
Verdō is an all-plant brasserie. It strives to offer dishes from traditional Belgian gastronomy without any animal products. If that sounds like a tall order, Verdō shows us that it’s not only entirely possible, but that you can find all the flavors of Belgian cuisine while avoiding animal suffering and reducing environmental impact. And all without losing taste or quality!
Seasonal produce from local suppliersis also given pride of place. Daily specials are available, and we loved the artichoke croquettes with sesame and preserved lemon sauce. The eggplant steak with chimichurri sauce was also a pure delight! And for dessert, why not try the coconut milk rice with cherry coulis and amaretto sauce? Yum!

The Judgy Vegan
Open since 2017 in the heart of Brussels, The Judgy Vegan Café & Bar offers a menu full of delicious homemade vegan recipes in the warmest of atmospheres. It offers a vegan version of various traditional Belgian dishes, such as frites or boulets en sauce liégeoise. In the latter case, the meat is replaced by seitan, but you’ll hardly notice as the sauce is so delicious!
Judgy Vegan also offers brunch until 3pm every weekend. You’ll be offered a choice of sweet or savory pancakes. An excellent option for “home-style” eating, in a friendly vegan version!

Kitsune Burgers
Does anyone still believe that vegans should deprive themselves of burgers? Or that vegan burgers have anything to envy? At Kitsine, the veggie burger reaches a whole new level of quality!
Everything is vegan in these delicious burgers, which are no longer made with meat, but with tofu, mushrooms or falafel. The bread is homemade, and the sauces and accompaniments are delicious. Try, for example, the kimchi coleslaw or the Korean tofu corn dog. A must for ethical fast food with an Asian twist!
