No need to hop on a plane to take a world tour of craft beers. On September 12 and 13, the Marché aux Poissons will host 13 breweries from nine countries and no fewer than 56 different beers. The Wanderlust festival, organized by Brussels Beer Project, is back to transform downtown Brussels into a playground for beer lovers —and for anyone who simply wants to enjoy a great weekend with friends!
56 beers to discover in two days
Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Scotland, and even Belgium: Wanderlust invites breweries from all over to set up their taps in the city. Among them are Fauve, Fuerst Wiacek, Vault City, Kaapse Brouwers, and The Garden Brewery, alongside the Brussels Beer Project.
The idea isn’t just to order your usual beer. Here, people come mainly to discover beers you rarely see in Brussels bars, featuring a wide variety of styles and a few limited editions. For the most enthusiastic attendees, the festival has even created a “passport” featuring the 13 breweries: collect a stamp at each stop, and those who complete their collection will have a chance to win a prize.
Beer, but not just beer
Fortunately, no one is expecting you to spend two days solely comparing hop profiles. Wanderlust also features food trucks, DJ sets, live bands, and a variety of activities to turn the tasting into a true outdoor festival. Smash burgers, artisanal kebabs, and Cuban sandwiches are among the highlights on the announced lineup.
The event kicks off on Saturday, September 12, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and continues on Sunday, September 13, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets come in different packages, with a varying number of tastings included depending on how thirsty you are… and the pass names say it all: Petite Soif, Grande Soif, or Super Soif.
In short, if you needed one last excuse to extend summer before fully settling into the new school year, you might just find it at the bottom of a glass at Place du Marché aux Poissons.
