If you follow Bruxelles Secrète, you know how much we love Asian cuisine. So when we heard about the opening of Wantany, Brussels’ very first Chinese ravioli bar, we couldn’t wait! And spoiler: it’s absolutely delicious!
There’s no shortage of restaurants on Rue des Bouchers, and let’s be honest, their quality can be really… variable. That’s not the case with the delicious Wantany, which recently opened at number 30, a stone’s throw from the Galeries Royales. And with good reason: we love this new address! We tell you all about it!
Invited to the Wantany table, we were delighted to be able to try out the entire menu, with quality service that was also fast (we were even given brief explanations of the dishes). Wantan, the restaurant’s eponymous star dish, is a ravioli typical of Chinese cuisine, stuffed with pork, shrimp, chicken or vegetables (veggie).
It’s precisely via these four varieties that wantan is presented here, in deep-fried format, and we sample a tasty board of 12 (3×4 flavors). The taste is excellent (our preference goes to the scampi/shrimp wantan, a delight) and this sharing board is ideal for anyone wanting to sample all the flavors of wantan, with friends or family, and without breaking the bank.
For the main course, wantan is presented as a bowl-style soup, accompanied by its broth, wheat noodles and crunchy Asian vegetables. Here again, it was a pure delight (we had the scampi and pork wantan). The seasoning of the broth is perfect, the dish is hearty and the addition of creamy noodles under the ravioli makes it easy to come away feeling like you’ve eaten well.
For dessert, Wantany has prepared a selection of their three à la carte desserts. Whether it’s the sweet banana wantan, the mango sago or the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream, we’re sure to have fallen in love with this new address, which definitely deserves your full attention. In addition to its delicious dishes prepared on site, its central location and bright, sober decor make it a real nugget to try out without delay!
And don’t forget: a €15 lunch menu, available Monday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm, includes a bowl soup of 4 wantans with 3 fried wantans. It’s the perfect lunchtime food plan!
Rue des Bouchers 30. Open every day except Monday from 11.30am to 10pm (11pm Fri-Sat).
