Forget Madrid, New York and even London: Zara will soon be planting its most monumental flag in Antwerp. With 14,500 m² of floor space and three floors dedicated to shopping, the Spanish brand will soon transform the Meir into a giant runway!
XXL fashion: Antwerp, the new capital of ambitious shopping
If Antwerp was already in the club of cities that count when it comes to fashion, Zara has just taken it a step further. By setting up shop in Meir Corner – at the crossroads of the city’s fashion flows – the Spanish brand is betting big. The new store will feature three floors of trends, 14,500 sq. m. of confident commercial architecture, and a clear ambition: to make Antwerp the hub of physical shopping at a time when digital is saturating the city.
Real estate poker at 25 million euros a pop
This is no mere marketing stunt, but a real urban seduction operation with a (very) big budget. At over €1,700 per m² per year, the walls of Meir Corner are worth their weight in gold. For Tans Urban Landmarks and Urbicoon, this contract is a historic jackpot. Zara, for its part, has taken up the challenge of an immersive retail experience in the face of the boredom of endless scrolls.
Shopping meets knowledge: the campus overlooking fashion
But this temple to textiles won’t be alone in its kingdom. Directly above the store will be a brand-new campus of the Karel de Grote Hogeschool. Business, IT and fashion will coexist in this urban hub that merges commerce and knowledge. From 2026, students and fashionistas will share the elevators. The store is scheduled to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
📍 Address: Meir Corner, Antwerp
📆 O pening dates: Between late 2027 and early 2027
