In our quest for terraces to enjoy a drink after work, we sometimes forget that all it takesis a park, some music, and a sunset to make for a perfect summer evening. Good news: Charleroi is about to check all the boxes with BASHO, a new outdoor spot designed for enjoying the outdoors from noon until nightfall.
A park with a completely different vibe
Starting June 12, Queen Astrid Park will take on the feel of a mini summer village. Gone is the simple green space you used to pass through between appointments! For nearly two months, the place will become a true open-air hub of activity . Around the central bandstand, visitors will find terraces, bars, chill-out spots on the grass, pétanque courts, and even a food area inspired by Italian street food stalls. The kind of place where you come for “just an hour” before finally heading home after dark.
The perfect spot for long summer evenings
What’s likely to get people talking about BASHO most of all is its evolving atmosphere. During the day, the venue embraces the slow-life vibe. Coffee in the sun, reading on a blanket, card games with friends, and an impromptu lunch break in the park. Then, gradually, the atmosphere shifts into a massive after-work party. Cocktails start arriving at the tables, the playlists ramp up the energy, and DJ sets take over the booth. Acoustic concerts and several themed nights have already been announced. One example is House of Noize, conceived by Kid Noize.
The new cool hangout of the Walloon summer?
At a time whensummer hotspots often try to overdo it, BASHO is banking on a simple formula instead. Sunshine, music, socializing, and a large space where everyone can find their place. Families in the afternoon, groups of friends for drinks, partygoers at sunset… The venue aims to bring together a diverse crowd without falling into the cliché of the exclusive, trendy bar. Open seven days a week until August 8, this new hotspot could well become one of the most sought-after spots of the Belgian summer.
