The Brussels Renaissance Festival returns to Brussels in May 2026

To immerse yourself in the era of Charles V and16th-centuryBrussels, head to theBrussels Renaissance Festival. The festival will bring its torches, costumes, and flags to the capital from May 17 to July 4, 2026. This annual event, which highlights the heritage and history of the European Renaissance, showcases Brussels’ role during this period. King Charles V, who established his primary residence in our city, is also highlighted.
As part of the Brussels Renaissance Festival, the city is organizing a whole series of events and performances. To understand the customs and traditions of the Renaissance, head to the Maison du Roi and Place Royale. Other guided tours are organized at the Church of Notre-Dame du Sablon, Brussels City Hall, the Collegiate Church of St. Peter and St. Guidon, the Church of St. Jacques, the KBR Museum, the Church of La Chapelle, and the Marolles district.
Free guided tours of Brussels’ churches are offered by Kerk en Toerisme. Finally, family activities will take place at the Coudenberg Palace during Family Day on May 17. As a family, you can participate in themed workshops and try your hand at crossbow shooting or sword fighting!
