If you’re planning a trip to the seaside this summer, mark this date on your calendar. On July 18 and 19, 2026, Wenduine—a charming seaside resort in the municipality of De Haan—will host another edition of the Festival of the Giants, one of the most iconic folklore events on the Belgian coast.
A giant parade in the heart of Wenduine
The highlight of the weekend will take place on Saturday, July 18, with the traditional Giants’ Parade. Starting at 3 p.m., these impressive folkloric figures will parade through the streets of downtown, passing notably through Kerkstraat, Graaf Jansdijk, and the seawall. This colorful parade carries on a tradition deeply rooted in Belgian heritage and attracts curious onlookers, residents, and vacationers every year.
The festivities will continue in the evening on the Market Square with several musical performances. Among them will be a concert by the Blankenberge sea shanty choir! There will also be a large sing-along session that promises a particularly festive atmosphere.
Markets, flavors, and crafts by the sea
On Sunday, Wenduine will take on the atmosphere of a village in celebration. Starting at 11 a.m., visitors can stroll through the art market and flea market set up on Astridplein, Oostlaan, and the surrounding streets. Lovers of local specialties will also find something to their liking. A food market, featuring numerous stalls throughout the day, will also be part of the festivities.
