A few kilometers from the Belgian hills, an abandoned complex attracts fans of urbex and thrills. Built in the 1930s to accommodate holidaymakers, it closed its doors some twenty years ago. Today, the site is as attractive for its past as for its eerie atmosphere… And as Halloween approaches, it offers a setting worthy of horror films to those who dare to venture in…
History frozen in time

This site is none other than the Hotel Kosmos, located in Heuvelland, in the west of Belgium, about 1h30 from Brussels. When it opened in 1934, the hotel offered spacious rooms, a restaurant and an outdoor swimming pool. It soon became a popular vacation destination for families and school groups. In the 1980s, it was transformed into a family vacation park with a youth hostel. But in 2002, new safety standards led to its definitive closure. Since then, the buildings have been abandoned, frozen in time and gradually overgrown.
A captivating atmosphere

Today,Hotel Kosmos attracts as much for its history as for its abandoned setting. Cracked walls, dusty staircases and broken shutters create an eerie backdrop that attracts urbex enthusiasts and photographers alike, providing the perfect terrain to capture the unique atmosphere of this place frozen in time.
Between chills and terror

The Kosmos Hotel is no longer just a relic of the past: it has become a place where the atmosphere can be truly unsettling. Broken windows, creaking staircases and dilapidated facades give the site the look of a horror movie set. Even the empty swimming pool and the once lively outbuildings seem laden with dark memories. As Halloween approaches, the heavy silence and looming shadows reinforce this feeling, offering daring visitors an experience both fascinating and terrifying.
