November…. The Christmas market season is officially underway! In Belgium, one of the first to open its chalets is just 1h30 from Brussels, in one of Wallonia’s most emblematic locations. And for its 13ᵉ edition, running from November 14 to December 21, 2025, the Maredsous Abbey Christmas Market has pulled out all the stops. We tell you all about it.
A must-see Christmas market in the heart of an exceptional abbey
When a Christmas market takes place in a neo-Gothic abbey founded in the XIXᵉ century, the result can only be majestic and magical. Known for its monastic traditions, cheese and beer, the abbey has also become a holiday staple thanks to its Christmas market. More than 60 chalets featuring artisans, designers, local producers and gift ideas are on display. A not-to-be-missed outing for families, friends and couples alike.
And that’s not all: from November 14, 2025 to January 4, 2026, a skating rink will complete the winter experience! Whether you’re coming with your loved ones or even your school, sliding on the ice in the heart of an abbey lit up for the occasion is a moment you won’t forget. For this 2025 edition, the abbey is renewing its collaboration with Colors Production, specialists in low-energy impact real ice rinks. Tickets cost 6 euros for children under 16, and 8 euros for adults.

Maredsous Abbey Christmas Market: opening times
The market will be open every weekend: Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 10am to 8pm. Every Friday, don’t miss the nocturnes, from 5pm to 10pm. With its lights, entertainment, brass bands and warm atmosphere, these evenings at Maredsous are simply irresistible.
If, like us, you love Christmas markets and exotic getaways, here’s one you won’t want to miss. But be warned: you’ll only have six weekends to enjoy this magical and convivial experience, just an hour and a half’s drive from Brussels.
