What if the most popular French Christmas market of 2025 was just 30 minutes by train from Brussels? This year, it’s not Strasbourg, Paris or Eguisheim that’s attracting the most curiosity. In fact, surprise: it’s Lille’s Christmas market that takes first place in Google searches. Last month, online queries linked to this event jumped by +881%! An impressive figure that confirms Lille as a must-see destination for the festive season.
Lille Christmas Market: an ultra-simple trip from Brussels
From Brussels, the fastest train gets you to Lille in just 35 minutes. By bus or car, you’ll need between 1h20 and 1h40. Once there, head for Place Rihour, at the foot of the superb Gothic palace of the same name. Nearly 90 wooden chalets await you in a warm, friendly and magical atmosphere.

Here you’ll find all the classics: local artisans, original gift ideas, decorations, delicacies… Not forgetting the Christmas market essentials: mulled wine, chocolates and other refined treats such as foie gras, oysters and truffles.
A magical atmosphere for young and old
What’s in it for the family? Children will be delighted to discover Santa’s chalet and a number of merry-go-rounds. And if you’re looking for a little thrill, you can climb the Ferris Wheel to admire the French Flemish town from a height of 50 metres. A spectacular view comparable to that offered at Brussels’ Plaisirs d’Hiver. Just next door, the large, brilliantly decorated Christmas tree is also well worth a visit.

Several weeks left to enjoy the Lille Christmas Market
Open since November 19, the Lille Christmas Market will remain open until December 30. So there’s still plenty of time to plan a trip from Brussels and discover for yourself why this beautiful, human-scale market attracts over a million visitors every winter.
