Looking for a vacation without leaving Brussels? From July 3 to 13, head to the quays for Plaisirs d’Été, the urban event that’s heating up our capital. From chillin’ on deckchairs to fun activities and floating dancefloors, summer promises to be as vibrant as it is refreshing! Here’s a glimpse of our favorites from this year’s program.
A lively summer in Brussels
The summer season is here, and Plaisirs d’Été is transforming the center of Brussels into a summer playground. This initiative brings together a wide range of sporting, cultural and festive activities for all ages. Whether you’re with family, friends or simply looking for a chill vibe, the quays open up to you with deckchairs, cocktails, outdoor games and open-air DJ sets.
Quai d’Été: urban chill and beats on the water
From July 3 to 13, Quai des Péniches transforms into a veritable summer spot with Quai d’Été, an urban oasis where you can relax, have fun and dance. Deckchairs, a bar, food trucks, pétanque, mini-golf, urban tennis, children’s activities… all come together to create a friendly, accessible atmosphere. But the real treasure of the event is The Boat: a floating dancefloor for electro cruises on the canal. Each day, a different Brussels collective raises the temperature on board: C12, Kiosk Radio, Hangar Soundsystem and Thé Dansant provide the vibe, between house, funk and hip-hop. A unique way to (re)discover Brussels from the water, headphones on and sunset in the background.
Brussels dances all summer long
On July 11, the city opens the ball with Brussel Danst, a day of free urban festivities to mark the Flemish Community Festival. With dance battles, participatory performances and open-air entertainment, the atmosphere is festive. But the pace doesn’t stop there! From August 14 to 24, the Brussels Dance Festival takes over for 11 days of free performances, from ballet to krump, in the streets, squares and theaters of the capital. A vibrant celebration of movement, diversity and creation, gracefully extending the Plaisirs d’Été into the final days of the season.
