After the metro, streetcar, bus, car, bike and scooter, if you want to keep up with the times, you’ll have to take the boat to get around Brussels! The Brussels-Vilvoorde waterbus offers a transport alternative for local residents, but also an activity idea for everyone.
We’re dropping anchor in Brussels! It’s even said that “La Croisière s’amuse” in the capital. Could it be the sound of an engine amid the waves we hear in the distance? From May 1 to October 31, 2024, the waterbus sails on the waters of the Brussels Canal, from the port of Sainctelette (Yser) to Vilvoorde. A 1-hour boat trip to travel in optimum comfort in the direction of your choice, with the option of taking your bike on board with you (€1 supplement).
In all, there are 8 stops connected to other public transport networks that will enable you to link important points in the city, residential, leisure, tourist, office, shopping and other areas. These stops are Vilvoorde centrum, Park Drie Fonteinen, Cruise Terminal, quai de Heembeek, pont Van Praet, quai des Péniches and Sainctelette / Beco.
Waterbus services include: Sainctelette/Yser, the future Kanal Centre Pompidou museum, Tour & Taxis (5 min walk), Gare du Nord (10 min), Docks Bruxsel, Parc de Laeken, Silo Brussels conference center, Nelson Mandela stadium, Domaine Trois Fontaines (Domein Drie Fonteinen), Vilvoorde town center.
The waterbus runs 5 days a week from May 1 to June 30, every day from July 1 to August 14, and 5 days a week from August 14 to October 31. Tickets cost €3.50 (€7 round-trip), with 50% off for children under 12, and free for children under 3.
