After eleven years in business, Jalousy is embarking on a new chapter. Taken over in January 2026 by Compagnie ABC, the cocktail club on Rue Haute reopens with a concept that now fully embraces its dual identities… A cocktail bar before midnight, then a club until the wee hours.
The bar before, the club after
Jalousy has always played on the line between cocktail bar and nightclub. Now, the venue has made this the very concept of its evening. Until midnight, guests come for a drink in a rather cozy atmosphere, with table service, background music, and small alcoves that can be reserved for groups. Then, at the stroke of midnight, the mood shifts: the music stops, the lights dim, and the curtain opens to reveal the vaulted cellars. Service stops, the dance floor clears, and the DJs take over until 6 a.m. It’s a two-part evening, then, that also lets you come just for the cocktails without necessarily ending up on the dance floor.
Cocktails to keep you going all night long
As for the menu, Jalousy also aims to avoid the traditional scenario where a cocktail knocks you out by the second drink. Valentin Norberg’s nine signature creations are divided into three intensity levels: non-alcoholic and low-alcohol options, more classic cocktails centered around mules, tonics, and spritzers, and then stronger creations. The cocktails served before midnight are exclusive to Jalousy and cannot be found at the group’s other locations. And once a month, a guest bartender will take the helm at the bar for three hours to showcase three of their own creations. Among the names announced are Mary Gelardes, co-founder of Lary Bar, and Call Me Rico.
A slightly revamped Jalousy
That doesn’t mean, however, that eleven years of history have been swept away by a massive renovation. Instead, the venue has been refined with subtle touches: the dance floor’s old red lights have given way to blue, the bar has taken on a warmer atmosphere, and the furniture has been updated for greater comfort. Even the DJ booth has been cleared out to make more room for the dance floor, while the basement now features acoustic treatment. In short, Jalousy hasn’t changed its name or completely transformed its look— it’s simply decided that a night out can start off quietly before getting much wilder.
