The festive season is fast approaching in Brussels, and the capital is already decked out in a thousand and one lights and stalls to bring the magic of Christmas to its visitors. On Place De Brouckère, a fricadelle bar called Dikkenek has set up shop…
Dikkenek ‘s fricadelles return to Plaisirs d’Hiver
For some people, Christmas means gifts galore, but for us, it’s the best time of year to treat ourselves to an avalanche of comfort food! In addition to truffle raclettes and the original cheese log, we’re excited about the arrival of Dikkenek, an ephemeral fricadelle bar that will be open on Place De Brouckère until January 5, 2025!
Frica-what? Fricadelle, a kind of snack consisting of a sausage (sometimes served with French fries), is a Belgian specialty; it’s also found in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and northern France. Here, it’s presented as a hot dog in XXL format, with good baker’s brioche bread.
At Dikkenek, it comes in 7 flavors: Classic (ketchup/mustard), Cheese (with cheddar), Dikkenek (with Bicky sauces), Hot (with jalapeños), Greek (pesto verde and feta), Savoyard (raclette) and Truffle. Enough to delight you without counting the calories!
