This summer in Ixelles, a simple street becomes a stage for poetry, circus and live theater. The festival Les Berges Poétiques will transform three summer Sundays into moments of collective amazement. Discover this invitation to slow down, look differently, and rediscover urban space through art. Bruxelles Secrète tells you all about it!
A stage in the street
No stage, no curtain, no reserved seating. At Berges Poétiques, art springs up unexpectedly. You’ll come across a strange brass band, a puppeteer discreetly following you, or a giant insect drumming on a bench. This is street art at its liveliest: accessible, ephemeral and delightfully bizarre. Surprise is the watchword, and every corner of the sidewalk can become a suspended moment.
Belgian surrealism has found its festival
We’re a stone’s throw from the Étangs d’Ixelles, but the atmosphere is more reminiscent of a Magritte painting in motion. Dreamlike figures call out to passers-by, and you’re drawn into another reality. Here, the aim is not to consume a show, but to encounter it. And that changes everything: it’s the artists who come to us, between two bursts of laughter or a sip of local beer.
Three Sundays to slow down (and dream)
On July 6 and 20, and August 3, the street becomes a place of enchanted strolling. You can settle in for the day, with your kids, your mates or your desire for curious solitude. A bar and snacks are available to stretch out the moment. It’s all free of charge, and each day features four performance slots. A Sunday suspended in time, where the real is gently contaminated by the imaginary.
