We love Brussels. From the Atomium, the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Koekelberg or Place Poelaert, the view is always magical. From raw beauty to sunset, we never tire of it. Good news for lovers of our capital: the emblematic terraces of the Arcades du Cinquantenaire are finally reopening after several years of closure. And it’s one of the most beautiful vistas in the whole of Brussels, so head there to fill your Instagram feed with photos of the city from its most beautiful angle (don’t forget to tag our account).
As we explained to you recently, Cinquantenaire Park is currently undergoing a makeover to make it more pleasant to live in: new paths, better lighting, more security, modernized spaces… And all in preparation for its big rendezvous for Belgium’s 200th birthday in 2030. Closed for nearly four years for renovation, the terraces atop the Arc de Triomphe in Cinquantenaire Park are once again accessible.
The old wooden platforms have been replaced by brand-new, safer and more solid installations, with modernized cladding and reinforced balustrades. As part of the renovation, no less than 31,000 m² of roofing was replaced… that’s for sure!
A panoramic view of Brussels from a height of 45 metres
Once you’re at the top, you’ll have the best view of Brussels, or at least one of the best. Enjoy a 360-degree view of the park and the city as a whole. Between the monumental arches, the framing is simply incredible. It’s the perfect place to immortalize the city from every angle. At sunrise or sunset, the golden light envelops the city, creating a magical atmosphere. What’s more, unlike other busy spots like the Atomium or Mont des Arts, here you can savor the moment, take your time, and just contemplate our beautiful Brussels.

A Brussels landmark reopened to the general public
Brussels connoisseurs will tell you that this spot is nothing new. Indeed, these impressive Arcades have stood proudly in the Parc du Cinquantenaire for over a century. Built in 1905 to celebrate 75 years of Belgian independence, they have since become one of Brussels’ most emblematic symbols.
Terrasses des Arcades du Cinquantenaire: prices, opening hours, practical info…
To enjoy this 45-meter-high view, you’ll need to access the site via the Royal Museum of the Army and Military History. Normal admission to the museum is €12, €9 for 6-18 year olds (young people) and free for children under 6. Unfortunately, admission is no longer free on the first Wednesday of the month.
In terms of opening hours, the terraces follow those of the museum. The museum is open every day except Monday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A word of friendly advice: bring a jacket, because even in summer, it can be windy. And of course, don’t forget to bring your best camera to immortalize the view.
